Diploma
This two year diploma designed by industry in 2010 to meet the needs of the New Zealand engineering sector includes core and elective courses focused on the design and implementation of engineering technology and aimed at providing you with sound thinking and problem solving abilities.
You will gain a solid grounding in engineering theory and principles of engineering science including design and drawing, materials, surveying hydraulics, geotech structures and highways.
It is expected that graduates will attain the educational underpinnings and work ready attributes defined in the Engineering New Zealand Graduate Profile for Engineering Technicians.
The graduate profile defined by Engineering New Zealand is benchmarked internationally to the exemplar graduate attributes for graduates of technical education programmes recognised under the Dublin Accord. Part-time up to 5 years.
Graduates are employed as engineering technicians, designers, construction supervisors, or sales engineers and are in high demand globally. You can choose employment options related to supporting the design and construction of infrastructure developments like subdivisions, highways, irrigation and hydropower systems, and public amenities such as water and waste water infrastructure and treatment.
This qualification meets the academic requirements for membership in Engineering New Zealand (EngNZ). Upon graduating you will be able to function at a technician-level in many countries as outlined by the Sydney and Dublin Accords (International Engineering Alliance 2002).
