The Master of Emergency and Disaster Management recognises the changing nature of emergency and disaster management in Australia and the important role research and evidence-based practice play in underpinning contemporary perspectives and approaches.
Entry Requirements

To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must hold:

  • A completed Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) equivalent Bachelor degree, in any discipline, or higher equivalent qualification; or
  • Completion of CQUniversity's CM40 Bachelor of Paramedic Science / Graduate Certificate in Emergency and Disaster Management, or
  • Completion of CQUniversity's CC27 Graduate Certificate in Emergency and Disaster Management or CM39 Graduate Diploma of Emergency and Disaster Management, or equivalent.

English Language Proficiency Requirements:

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University. Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:

  • A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or
  • An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma level qualification, or
  • Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years full time with a minimum overall GPA 4.0

* An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.

English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

Option one:
  • Currently hold general registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, and have held this registration for a minimum of 12 months;
    and
  • Can demonstrate current compliance with Registration Board Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.

Option two:

  • Have completed an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited Master of Professional Psychology or equivalent program, which satisfies the APAC criteria for Level 3 professional competencies in Psychology,
    and
  • Be eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as a provisional psychologist.


Entry is competitive with limited places available. To be considered for a place within this course via either of the above options, applicants must supply:
  1. An official academic transcript;
  2. A current resume or curriculum vitae that includes employment, relevant experience, research experience and accomplishments;
  3. A one-page statement outlining expectations of the course, reasons for applying for entry and including qualities that make you a suitable applicant for clinical psychology training. You must be an existing worker or a volunteer in a dental practice in order to satisfy the assessment requirements for each of the units of competency within this qualification. You are required to be working or volunteering in a dental facility for a minimum of 12 hours per week in order to gain the skills and knowledge as outlined in each of the units of competency.

Under unit HLTDEN015 - Prepare for and assist with dental procedures, you are required to perform 350 hours of dental assisting work and have this recorded in your student logbook.

AHC31421 Certificate III in Conservation and Eco-Systems Management is offered via mixed mode delivery, with admission intakes in February, April, July and October. Mixed mode delivery combines online learning and tutorials, as well as face to face workshops.

Students who are not in close proximity (outside of 150 Km) to a CQUniversity campus
and who are not currently working in the conservation and eco-systems management industry, will be required to seek and complete work experience, to meet the mandatory practical competency requirements.
Within the work experience environment, there must be a supervisor available, who has at least 2 years experience in the conservation and eco-systems management industry or holds the relevant qualifications. These students are responsible for seeking suitable work experience in their local area. Details of the workplace and supervisor must be forwarded to the CQUniversity teaching team. All supervisors must be approved by CQUniversity before commencement of the qualification. CQUniversity will follow up with the workplace to provide them with additional information. The supervisor will be responsible for signing third party reports which are required for practical observations for each unit of competency.
