Applicants must have an undergraduate degree (AQF level 7) or equivalent as approved by the University Admissions.

Students who have completed one of the following Graduate Certificates at UC may apply, and receive credit for the units completed under the Graduate Certificate:
- Graduate certificate in Creative Industries;
- Graduate Certificate in Digital Marketing;
- Graduate Certificate in Heritage Materials Conservation;
- Graduate Certificate in Creative Business;
- Graduate Certificate in Creative Leadership;
- Graduate Certificate in Design.

Students who have completed two or three (including the Graduate Certificate in Creative Industries) can receive up to 36cp of credit into this Masters.

Students who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Communication at UC can articulate into the Masters course with 24cp of credit as completed under the Graduate Diploma.

Applicants with a completed Bachelors degree in a related/cognate field may be granted credit for up to 6cps of specified and 6cps of unspecified credit.

A four-year undergraduate degree in education or a three-year undergraduate degree plus a one-year graduate diploma in education, and in either case a minimum of three years professional experience in an educational context;
OR
A three-year undergraduate degree in education or a cognate discipline deemed equivalent by the University Admissions Committee, and in either case a minimum of four years professional experience in an educational context.

Current registration as a teacher at proficient level or higher with an Australian regulatory authority/registration authority (e.g. TQI, NESA) OR A three-year undergraduate degree in Education or relevant field as approved by the University of Canberra, and at least three years' FTE professional experience in education OR Graduate/Post-Graduate education qualifications as approved by the University of Canberra.

Assumed knowledge

This course is intended for practising teachers, school leaders and other professionals working in fields of education. While there is no specific assumed knowledge required, a familiarity with Australian educational contexts (including schooling contexts) is assumed.

Additional admission requirements

In addition, there is a pathway into this course for applicants who have completed an ACECQA-approved Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. Credit for 8 units (24 credit points) of this course will be granted to applicants who have completed an ACECQA-accredited Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. The 24 credit points will be based upon credit being granted for:

- 11990 Child Development | 3 credit points - Level 1
- 11991 Relationships in Early Childhood Education | 3 credit points - Level 1
- 11992 The Arts: Visual Arts and Media in the Early Years | 3 credit points - Level 1
- 11993 The National Quality Framework | 3 credit points - Level 1
- 11994 Health and Wellbeing in the Early Years | 3 credit points - Level 1
- 11995 Infant and toddler Learning and Care | 3 credit points - Level 1
- 11996 Planning and the Early Years Learning Framework | 3 credit points - Level 1
- 11997 Partnerships in Early Childhood Education | 3 credit points - Level 1

Students who are credited the 8 units for the Diploma will enter directly into the second year of the program. Where a student does not have a completed Diploma (ACECQA approved), NO credit will be granted.

Students will be required to complete a written statement in response to questions designed to assess their suitability for the teaching profession. Responses to these questions must be deemed satisfactory for them to be admitted to this course.

Students must obtain Working with Vulnerable People Registration (ACT) and/or a Working With Children Check (NSW), depending on the area(s) in which they will be undertaking professional experience placements.

A completed Bachelor degree in a science or technology discipline with a GPA of 5.0 or higher based on the second and third year level units within the Bachelor's degree.

Additionally, students must demonstrate commitment from an appropriate staff member to act as their supervisor should their application for admission be successful.
