To be eligible for an offer, applicants must have:

  • A Bachelor Degree from a recognised Institution. The degree should include a major in psychology, behavioural or psychological science; or
  • be a degree in an affiliated area of human services, such as education, social work, law or nursing; or be other equivalent qualifications or
  • be a combination of qualifications which required at least one year of full-time tertiary study, or is deemed equivalent by the College of Health and Medicine.

Admission to most postgraduate coursework courses at the University of Tasmania require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree. Applicants must achieve the required grade in their qualifying studies, meet any prerequisite subjects, and meet English language requirements to be eligible for an offer.

  • 1 Apply advanced counselling specific knowledge and skills to human behaviour with consideration for the lifespan and developmental issues of the individual and/or audience.
  • 2 Critically reflect on the challenges of coping with life events and the diversity and variability of experiences of change, loss, grief, trauma and the meanings attached to them
  • 3 Demonstrate advanced critical thinking skills to interpret client information and integrate this with evidence-based interventions to generate, implement and evaluate individualized treatment approaches.
