    Pre-requisites

    To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

    • English (Units 3 & 4, C)

    We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

    • If you don't have an ATAR, you can attend an interview and supply a portfolio and written statement.
    Interview information

    Applicants who don't have an ATAR must partake in an interview and provide:

    • a head shot style photo of themselves
    • a school exit statement, or evidence of previous education standard achieved
    • a written statement (500 words) addressing what it is about design that inspires you to become a designer. Please supply your submission at the interview.
    • a portfolio of examples of your design works at interview. This should contain at least 8-10 high quality images of past artwork.

    Special entry schemes for admissions may increase your Rank, through the allocation of additional points in certain circumstances, such as educational disadvantage where you live, and subjects you passed.

    Tafe (VET) qualification

    If you have completed a qualification from a TAFE or qualified private provider, you may be able to use these qualifications to meet UniSQ's entry requirements.

    English language requirements

    You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

    Recognition of prior learning or work experience

    You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

    English Language Proficiency Requirements

    If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or the United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University. Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion within the last 5 years of:

    • A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or
    • An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma level qualification, or
    • Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years full-time with a minimum overall GPA 4.0

    completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or the United States of America which will meet the English proficiency.

    If you do not satisfy any of the above, you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test ad achieve the following scores:

    • An International English Language Test Systems (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6, with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall and minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test); or
    • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46; or
    • An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.

    English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study and must appear on a single result certificate.

    For entry into most USC undergraduate degree programs, you need to have completed a minimum level of education similar to successful completion of Australian Year 12 with good grades.

    Further studies, for example, a semester or more at college or university, can also be considered for entry and may give you credit transfer towards a degree.
