    Admission to candidature for the Graduate Diploma in Museum and Heritage Studies requires:

    • a bachelor's degree with a major in one of Anthropology, Archaeology, Art History, Cultural Geography, Cultural Studies, Education, English, Gender Studies, History, Indigenous Studies or another major with an equivalent skills and knowledge base; and a minimum 60% average calculated over the whole degree, from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification; or
    • completion of the Graduate Certificate in Museum and Heritage Studies with a minimum credit (65%) average, or an equivalent qualification.

    • At least 3 years relevant work experience (Specific occupations, workplace settings and industries are more relevant for specific courses and will receive greater weighting in consideration) demonstrating the relevance of the course;
    • A record of high achievement in any other qualifications or uncompleted undergraduate qualifications such as Distinction average.

    To be considered for entry to the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education (Management), you must have completed either:

    • A three-year undergraduate degree in a cognate area and at least two years of documented, relevant professional experience in tertiary education management, or equivalent; or
    • A four-year undergraduate degree in a cognate area, or equivalent; or
    • A three-year undergraduate degree and at least 50 credit points, or equivalent, of graduate study in a cognate area.

    And

    • Have current employment in the tertiary education sector; and
    • Employer support to participate.

    Meeting these entry requirements does not guarantee selection.

    In ranking applications, the Selection Committee will consider:

    • Prior academic performance; and
    • Professional experience.

    The Selection Committee may seek further information to clarify any aspect of an application in accordance with the Academic Board rules.

    Students taking the course from overseas are not required to have an international student visa.

    1. Admission to candidature shall be determined by the Head of School on recommendation of the Course Coordinator.

    2. Except as provided in Rule 3, a candidate for admission to the honours course shall:

    (a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws or Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degrees in The University of New England; and

    (b) have attained a minimum grade point average of 5.0 (Credit); and

    (c) have achieved 18 credit points at Distinction level or better in 300-level units in their chosen area of study (18 credit points at High Distinction level in 300-level Japanese language units) ; and

    (d) have passed units to the value of at least 48 credit points in the subject in which the candidate wishes to proceed, as prescribed in the Additional Requirements which follow these rules; and

    (e) have fulfilled any additional requirements prescribed and published by the school or disciplines concerned.

    3. With the approval of the Head of School a person who has fulfilled the requirements of an equivalent AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification of a university or other institution and who meets requirements considered by the school to be equivalent to those specified in Rule 2.(b), (c), (d) and (e), may be admitted to the honours course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts with Honours.
