Applicants must fulfil the following requirements:

Completion of a research Master's degree, appropriate to the professional field of the applicant (or equivalent) at a high level of achievement; or
A Bachelor's degree with Honours (Class 1 or Class 2A Honours level or equivalent); or
In exceptional circumstances, an equivalent academic or professional background that is considered by the Dean of the School and the PVC-R to be an appropriate preparation for independent study and research at a doctoral level.

An applicant may be required to demonstrate an ability to understand and communicate in both written and spoken English at a level adequate for the purpose of pursuing the program of study or as deemed appropriate by the Dean of the School.

Note: In order to be a competitive applicant, it is strongly preferred that school leavers have studied an ATAR course or equivalent in English and Mathematics and at least one ATAR course in the sciences that include:

Physics;
Chemistry;
Human Biology, and/or
Physical Education studies

Successful completion of at least 8 subjects at an undergraduate level or higher*, with an average grade of 65% or higher

*Applicants who have successfully completed subjects at another University, which are relevant to the selected program of study, may be eligible for credit (Advanced Standing).

The following criteria apply to students seeking admission to the Professional Doctorate program:

The Pro Vice Chancellor-Research, on the advice of the Dean of the School, determines admission to the Doctor of Physiotherapy Research Award.
Applicants to the doctoral program are expected to satisfy the following criteria:
- Possession of a research Masters degree by thesis or dissertation appropriate to the professional field of the applicant; or
- Possession of a Masters degree by coursework appropriate to the professional field of the applicant completed at a superior standard; or
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree with Honours (typically 1st Class or Class 2A Honours level or equivalent); or
- Possession of a Master of Philosophy; or
- In exceptional circumstances, an equivalent academic or professional background that is considered by the Dean of the School to be an appropriate preparation for independent study and research work at Doctoral level.
In addition to the academic criteria listed above, applicants are normally expected to satisfy the
- have a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional practice;
- have the support of an industry or professional mentor.

Do you wish to practice as a physiotherapist? The University of Notre Dame Australia's Master of Physiotherapy degree is a 2-year full-time program that prepares you to become an effective, culturally-appropriate practitioner focusing on the physiotherapist-client relationship.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to The University of Notre Dame Australia, all applicants must meet the University's minimum requirements for admission for postgraduate programs.

International students must have a qualification that is recognised as equivalent to an Australian Bachelor's degree, AQF Level 7, or to be in the final year of an eligible Bachelor's degree.

Specific Program Requirements for Admission

To be eligible for admission to the program, an applicant must meet the following requirements:

A Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science* with a minimum GPA of 2.5**;
OR
A Bachelor of Science* with a major or specialisation in Exercise and Sports Science, with a minimum GPA of 2.5**;
OR
Any Bachelor's degree* with a minimum GPA of 2.5**,
AND which includes assessed studies in the following specific areas:
- Human Anatomy and Physiology
- Human Pathophysiology
Inherent requirements as listed in the Program Requirements.

*Including two semesters of human anatomy and one semester of pathophysiology covering the following indicative study areas: see PHTY1005, 1006 and PHTY1007.

**GPA of 2.5 is based on a 4-point scale.

Applicants who have successfully completed subjects at another University, which are relevant to the selected program of study, may be eligible for Advanced Standing.
