  • English language requirements

    1. English language test pathway

    You must have successfully completed one of the following English language tests:

    » an IELTS score (academic) of 7.0 with no band score less than 7.0;

    » Occupational English Test (OET) with minimum score of 'B' in each of the four components;

    » PTE Academic with a minimum overall score of 65 and a minimum score of 65 in each of the four components; or

    » TOEFL iBT at a minimum overall score of 94 with reading at a minimum of 24, listening a minimum of 24, speaking at a minimum of 23 and writing at a minimum of 27; or

    2. Primary language pathway

    » You must have attended and satisfactorily completed at least six years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English in any of the following countries: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom and the United States of America. At least 2 years of study must be between Years 7-12.

  • Equivalent to Australian Year 12 with a pass in Year 11 Maths is required for entry into this course OR

    Completion of 52895WA Certificate IV in Preparation for Health and Nursing Studies is required for entry into this course.

  • Students enrolling into HLT54121 will require a National Police Clearance, WA Health Department Criminal History Record Check, Working with Children Check, Immunisation Clearance, Medical Clearance and an AHPRA student registration. All students enrolled in this Diploma are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) for the course duration. On completion of all course requirements, you may be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

  • Students may be required to undertake Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) Literacy & Numeracy assessment testing and achieve an exit level score of 3 (working at level 4) Literacy and Numeracy Testing. Students who have provided a formal English Language result are only required to complete the numeracy component.

  • This course requires immunisations and/or proof of vaccination status before attending mandatory work placement. Costs and vaccine requirements may vary depending on your placement centre and/or doctor's fee schedule. Please follow instructions/advice provided to you during enrolment/orientation. You will not be able to complete your course if these requirements are not met.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification as per the training package requirements for HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing. However, for students to enrol into the Diploma of Nursing program they must meet the following CIT entry requirements:

  • Have completed Year 12 (within the last 10 years at an accredited or tertiary level) with at least a C grade average in English and Maths or successfully completed the LLN test (ACSF level 4).
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a current clear Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • Have a current clear Australian Federal Police Check - Code 08 - Hospital Employment
  • Have an up-to-date immunisation/vaccination record - Vaccination Card (PDF 270Kb)
  • Have basic computer skills
  • A letter from their General Practitioner stating fitness to undertake nursing duties
  • A current First Aid Certificate
  • Evidence of current Influenza and Covid vaccine - all required vaccinations
