For entry into most USC undergraduate degree programs, you need to have completed a minimum level of education similar to successful completion of Australian Year 12 with good grades.

Understand and explain human behaviour The Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) (Honours) is a one-year, APAC-accredited Honours degree that allows you to continue your studies in psychology.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirements for admission to the Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) (Honours) are:

* completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC)-accredited qualifying psychology degree within the last 10 years. The qualifying degree may be: I. a three year undergraduate psychology degree (or first three years of an accredited four year degree); or II. a Graduate Diploma in psychology for applicants who completed an undergraduate degree in a different discipline; and

* a minimum Credit average in second and third year psychology courses / graduate diploma psychology courses. There is a limited number of honours places available. Selection will be based on applicants' order of merit on second and third year psychology courses / graduate diploma psychology courses. Thus, a higher than minimum GPA may be required to be offered a place.

Selection process

Applicants are shortlisted for interviews in priority order based on their GPA referee reports and questionnaire. Shortlisted applicants for the first round will be contacted in mid-October to attend an in-person interview at the Kelvin Grove campus in late October/early November to assess their interpersonal skills in a clinical context. If required a second round of in-person interviews will be conducted in late November/early December.

Admission is based on GPA interview questionnaire and referee reports. Mid-November is when first round of offers will be issued to selected interviewed applicants along with notifications to unsuccessful applicants. Additional application information

To become a registered psychologist in Australia, the completion of a four-year psychology program is required; plus the completion of a professional masters, doctorate or PhD program in psychology, or two years' supervised practice as a psychologist. Postgraduate professional qualifications are a distinct advantage when competing for professional jobs as a psychologist.

Psychology can also be studied through the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Science. These programs, with an additional honours year, both meet the undergraduate requirements for professional registration when combined with the completion of professional masters level or higher qualification in psychology or two years supervised experience as a psychologist.

Students are encouraged to submit their application as early as possible to allow adequate time for their student visa to be processed.

Semester 2 commencement is available to eligible international students with advanced standing of 8 units (4 courses) or more.

You must have:

A completed bachelor degree in psychology completed within the past ten years (2014 or later) and by no later than semester 2 2023 (or equivalent) with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 (on QUT's 7-point scale).

Your degree must be accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as an entry point into an honours program; e.g.Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) at QUT.

If you have an overseas qualifications you must provide certification with your application from the Australian Psychological Society (APS) stating your degree is equivalent to equivalent to an APAC-approved 3-year training in psychology. The Australian Psychological Society advises the average processing time is eight weeks therefore you will need to seek certification by no later than July.

A grade of at least 4.00 (on QUT's 7-point scale) for each of the APAC-accredited second and third year psychology units listed below.
A grade point average of at least 5.30 (on QUT's 7-point scale) across all attempts of the listed APAC accredited second- and third-year psychology units listed below.
Successful completed an APAC-accredited advanced statistical analysis unit at third-year level.

Entry to this course is competitive as places are limited. All applications will be considered in two groups of:

QUT's Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) single and double degree graduates; and
All other applicants.

Eligible applicants are selected in order of merit based on their APAC accredited second and third year psychology units GPA.

Application dates

1 July: applications open
30 September: final date to apply and provide all required supporting documentation. Applications or supporting documentation received after this date will not be considered.
Mid-December: Application outcomes released.

Applicants expecting to complete their studies by December

You must provide your academic record for all studies attempted up until semester 1 this year by 30 September. If your application is successful you will receive a conditional offer that will stipulate when your final results and course completion must be provided to confirm your place.

If you have summer/semester 3 (or equivalent) studies you will need to apply for entry next July for the year after you complete your studies.
