Overview
The scholarship has been generously established in memory of the distinguished Indigenous Australian, Ken Wanganeen. Mr Wanganeen completed his first degree with honours at Flinders University and during his career became Assistant Secretary in the Department of Aboriginal Affairs. He was committed to developing constructive ways of bringing the people of Australia together.
Eligibility
Applicants must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
- an Indigenous Australian; and
- enrolled in or will be enrolled in a graduate coursework program at the University; or
- enrolled in or will be enrolled in the Australian National Internships Program.
Selection basis
- the student meeting all eligibility requirements set out above
- the letter of application which includes evidence that the applicant is, or has the potential to be, a leader in the community;
- the academic history of the applicant;
- the reports from two referees;
Preference may be given to students applying for or enrolling in the Australian National Internship Program (ANIP)
How to apply
Applications must be submitted to the Tjabal Indigenous Higher Education Centre, by the due date advertised each year.
The application should include:
- A letter providing evidence that the applicant is, or has the potential to be, a leader in the community; and
- academic records including all transcripts from all previous tertiary studies; and
- references from two separate referees which support the application and the applicant’s claims. At least one reference must be academic.
