About this scholarship

Overview

The National Merit Scholarship rewards academic excellence in secondary school studies and provide assistance with costs related to tertiary studies.

Eligibility

  • Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or Permanent Humantarian Visa.
  • Completed Year 12 or equivalent in 2017 or completed Year 12 or equivalent in 2016 and did not enrol in a tertiary program in 2017.
  • Have put at least one ANU program as a first, second or third preference when applying for admission through the Universities Admissions Centre (NSW & ACT).

You do not need to:

  • restrict your program choice
  • be interviewed for scholarship selection
  • send your Resume/CV.

Value

  • $6,500 per annum
  • Payments made per semester
  • Payments made for 5 years

Selection basis

An Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) score between 99.75 to 99.85 or equivalent (no bonus points).

Benefits

The scholarships offers a stipend of $6,500 per annum paid in equal instalments at the beginning of each semester for up to 5 years.

How to apply

No application is required. All eligible applicants with ANU as a first, second or third preference when applying through the Universities Admissions Centre (NSW & ACT) will be automatically considered.
