Do you want to be a qualified "Fridgie"?
As a "Fridgie" you'll gain the knowledge and skills to work specifically as a refrigeration and air conditioning technician in the domestic, commercial or industrial industry sector. This trade level course is for refrigeration and air conditioning apprentices to work with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment in domestic, commercial or industrial situations. This qualification covers competencies to select components, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain refrigeration systems and equipment that apply to food storage and preservation, and air conditioning and air distribution equipment in buildings and premises. It includes regulatory requirements for purchasing and handling refrigerants.
At CIT you will be given the opportunity to develop and practice your skills to industry standard and work with equipment in our custom built electrotechnology workshop associated with Refrigeration, Heating Ventilation, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R).
Competency development activities in this qualification are subject to regulations directly related to licensing.
As you are entering this course as an apprentice under the Australian Apprenticeships arrangements, you must be employed in the electrical contracting industry, and you must register with an Apprentice Network Provider (ANP) prior to enrolment.
Starting out in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry you'll need to obtain your ARCtick Licence (otherwise known as a Refrigeration Handling Licence, RHL or simply ARC Licence). Your teacher will provide more information on how to apply.
