Certificate
This course will provide you with the required skills and knowledge to be competent in a wide range of general Information and Communication Technology (ICT) roles. The program includes study streams designed and developed to provide specific ICT skills, to career pathways in Network Administration, and Programming and Web Applications.
Network Administration and Infrastructure The Network Administration and Infrastructure stream will train students in creating and maintaining Local Area Network (LAN), Virtual Private Network (VPN), and Wireless Area Network (WAN) environments. This includes configuring routing and multiple layers of switching, scripting, end point security, and attack mitigation. Systems administration and wide range of security aspects are included in the program including desktop management across networked environments, threat response and mitigation, imaging, packet tracing, and cloud.
Programming and Web Applications The Programming and Web Applications stream provides an elective pathway introducing students to coding and applications in object orientated programming, automation and building graphical user interfaces (JAVA, C++, Python, testing), designing static and dynamic websites (HTML & CSS, JavaScript, PHP), and database design and modelling, and data management (Oracle SQL and PL/SQL).
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification however the following guidelines are recommended to apply when considering enrolling into the certificate IV qualification:
Programming and Web Applications: students may commence studies at Certificate IV level without prior experience but will undertake a study load incorporating a range of coding languages. Potential students with no previous exposure to web design or coding may prefer to consider starting with the Certificate III or Statement of Attainment, or to seek advice in subject choices at Certificate IV level.
Network Administration and Infrastructure: students are recommended to have IT industry experience, and/or a good understanding of IP addressing, networked environments including an understanding of Active Directory Infrastructure, group policy, and creating and maintaining local area networks, or have completed a Major in IT in YR12 encompassing CISCO training. Alternatively, it is recommended you complete the networking and programming elective units from either Statement of Attainment in networking, or Certificate III in Information Technology to support your learning journey.
