About this course

This course is for those seeking employment in the animal care industry, specifically in the care of dogs. It will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to provide essential first aid for animals, along with identify dogs, and their behavioural and physical needs, and provide daily care requirements.

The practical work in the course will be undertaken at the CIT Dog Day Care facility.

This course is applicable to new entrants to the animal care industry. It is suitable for individuals wanting to work in the animal care industry where domestic dogs are bred, reared, trained, cared for or housed. Including:

- animal shelters
- pet shops
- breeding or boarding kennels
- companion animal training
- grooming establishments or similar workplaces.

This training can contribute towards further studies in companion animal qualifications.
