Make a positive difference in the lives of others.

This entry level qualification provides learners with basic industry skills and knowledge, and upon successful completion aims to enable opportunities for students to transition into a traineeship within the Community Services sector (at the Certificate III level) or provide them with skills and knowledge to work in the Disability sector.

This qualification provides students with the knowledge and skills to perform the following tasks associated with the disability sector:

  • Provide support services to a client including following an individual's plan
  • Reporting and completing documentation
  • Facilitate the empowerment of people with a disability including fostering their rights and facilitating choice
  • Follow safe work practices
  • Develop an understanding of diverse groups and how to work and communicate with them
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, management and other industry providers
  • Recognise potentially hazardous manual tasks
  • Recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies
