When you complete the Certificate IV in Community Services Work, you will have the skills and knowledge needed to start your career in community support as an outreach officer, welfare support worker, or case worker.

You will gain the knowledge and skills to communicate and work effectively in the community services sector; promoting social, emotional and physical wellbeing; responding to critical situations including children at risk; assisting collective action; and also learn about working with cultural diversity; ethical behaviour and legal responsibilities.

Entry requirements

School Leaver Non-School Leaver AQF
C Grades in Year 11 WACE General English, and OLNA; or NAPLAN 9 Band 8 C Grades in Year 11 English and Maths or equivalent Certificate II or Certificate III
RTO Entry Requirements

Learners are required to provide evidence of having sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to successfully undertake the program's academic and workplace experience requirements, prior to commencing the program:
* School Leaver - C Grades in Year 11 WACE General English, and OLNA; or NAPLAN 9 Band 8
* Non-School Leaver - C Grades in Year 11 English and Maths or equivalent
* AQF - Certificate II or Certificate III

If students do not have the above, they may complete a CGEA Assessment for Certificate IV Community Services to ensure they have the required levels for success. Potential learners with convictions are asked to discuss these with a lecturer as they will impact on placement. Learners are encouraged to have any convictions they may have Spent if possible. Some convictions will mean placement will be unavailable.

Learners will be interviewed during enrolment and a Client Needs Summary will be completed to identify any limitations to these requirements and actions planned to address these limitations. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements applies to these qualifications at the time of publication.
