A Certificate IV in Disability will prepare you to work as a disability support worker in a client's home or within a community organisation. Learn how to help people with an intellectual or physical disability, by empowering them to become more independent and self-reliant, allowing them to participate in community activities.
People working at this level may be a supervisor or manage the performance of other team members, you can also report to service managers and may liaise with health professionals and other service agencies.

You must participate in a pre-enrolment induction with the lecturer prior to enrolment. Additionally, for aged care and disability work you will need both physical and medical fitness. Aged care and disability work can be emotionally and physically challenging and will be very hands-on. You will require the level of medical and physical fitness needed to be on your feet for long periods of time, help transfer and position elderly clients and where relevant undertake other physical activities such as cleaning, moving equipment, transporting clients in wheelchairs and helping clients in and out of vehicles.
You will also be required to hold a current National Police Certificate and a Working with Children Check.
