As per national guidelines students will learn how to conduct routine checks, proper shifting of a load and how to correctly shutdown and secure a forklift. Forklift is considered high risk work and you will attain the skills required to manoeuver goods in a variety of industries including manufacturing, transport, mining and production industries.

Entry requirements

  • WorkSafe requires the student must be 18 years of age to obtain a High-Risk Licence.
  • Students are expected to have basic English reading, writing and numeracy skills to complete the National Assessment Instrument (NAI) - the mandated assessment.
  • It is expected that students will be able to communicate in English without assistance from another person (including a translator).
  • Students must be prepared to undertake the written and practical tests under specific test conditions (e.g. closed book, stipulated time frame).
  • Students need to be able to get on and off the forklift using three points of contact, without assistance.
