Charles Darwin University (CDU) Courses

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree in biomedical or medical health disciplines, with studies in Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology and Genetics.

Due to professional recognition, applicants who have completed a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science undergraduate degree are not eligible for entry into this course.

Successful completion of one of the following:

• a recognised bachelor degree or equivalent international qualification in a related field; or
• a recognised bachelor degree in an unrelated field plus completion of a graduate diploma in a related field or equivalent international qualification.

Related fields include: biological science, earth science, environmental engineering, environmental science, geography, geographic information or sustainability studies.

Applicants must:

A. hold a current general registration as a registered nurse and an unrestricted licence to practice as a registered nurse in Australia, with no condition on registration related to unsatisfactory professional performance or unprofessional conduct; and

B. have completed a minimum of two years' full-time equivalent (FTE) as a registered nurse in a specified clinical field and a minimum of additional two years' FTE of current* advanced nursing practice in this same clinical field; and

C. have completed a postgraduate qualification(degree) at AQF level 8, i.e. postgraduate certificate or higher in a clinical field.

D. provide evidence from an approved health care organisation that support the applicant and the practicum requirements, including supervision and clinical support for a minimum of 300 hours of supernumerary integrated professional practice during the course.

*current means within the previous six years

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma, masters degree or equivalent international qualification in a relevant field.

Consideration will also be given to those who do not have one of the above qualifications, but who have at least five years relevant professional experience, for example in policy development, research, governance or service delivery. Applicants must provide further documentation in the form of a curriculum vitae (CV) with their application.

Admission requirements are met by one of the following:

• Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 60*.
• Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate III level or higher.
• Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma.
• Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications.
• Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 140.
• Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program, the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses, or other recognised tertiary preparation course.
• Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience.
• Defence members with service of 1 year or more at the following ranks (or higher) meet the academic entry requirement for this course:
  • Navy: Seaman, Able Seaman, Leading Seaman
  • Air Force: Aircraftmen/Aircraftwoman, Leading Aircraftman/Aircraftwoman, Corporal
  • Army: Private, Lance Corporal, Corporal

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate diploma, master's degree or equivalent international qualification. Registered nurses who are graduates of a hospital-based program are also eligible for entry

Consideration will be given to applicants who only hold a graduate certificate.

Successful completion of:

• a recognised bachelor degree in any field; and
• the equivalent of one-year full-time study in behavioural or social science units, whether this be included in the completed degree or in the form of additional qualifications at diploma or above level.

Due to professional recognition, applicants who have completed a Bachelor of Social Work undergraduate degree accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers will not be eligible for entry into this course.
