Traineeships are a great way to be paid for work, learn, and earn a qualification. Get paid to combine work-based training as a workplace trainee in residential aged care facilities, community care and nursing homes and learn the theoretical elements with formal training from Chisholm.
Trainees must be employed in individual support within the aged care industry. A training contract between the employer and the trainee is required prior to enrolment.
The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community Specialization) - Traineeship is designed to provide training to entry-level workers who want to work specifically in residential aged care facilities, community care and nursing homes.
It is perfect for people who are wanting to start a career as a care worker, as well as for those who are already working in the area but who need to formalise their qualifications to take the next step in their career.
This course will prepare you for entry-level aged care support positions where you will learn:
* About the human body and how to support its healthy functioning.
*To facilitate the empowerment of older people and tailor their support.
* Supporting and monitoring a client with dementia.
* Tools to communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, families and co-workers.
* To provide physical, social and emotional support to the elderly
* To work as part of a team with other health professionals such as nurses and healthcare workers.

Classroom learning is supported by online content which the student access via Moodle, with an expectation that this is completed every week before commencement of Lab based activities.
The assessment of several units is undertaken in Chisholm's Allied Health lab which is set up to mimic an Individual Support environment.
