Please note: Victorian Safety Screening Policy

    Under this policy, the prospective worker has to undergo proof of identity check and a Disability Worker Exclusion List check before they can start their placement with participants who have additional needs or the disability industry. Under the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC), applicants must now provide a minimum of four pieces of identification:
  • One commencement of identity document (such as a full Australian birth certificate or current Australian passport)
  • One primary use in the community document (such as a current Australian driver's licence or marriage certificate)
  • Two secondary use in the community documents (such as a Medicare card or a credit card).
  • Free TAFE Pathways

    In addition to being a Free TAFE course, this course is also part of the Free TAFE Pathways initiative.

    Entry requirements

    All applicants are required to complete BSKB and must obtain exit level 3 in both literacy and numeracy (working at level 4)., Applicants must be 17 years of age at the time of commencement of the course. Parental agreement is required for students under 18 years of age, Please note: Students need a valid Working with Children Check (volunteer), a clear national police check , identity check with ACIC and immunisations to be eligible to undertake practical placement., Students must have satisfactorily completed a minimum of year 9 or equivalent, Students need to be able to complete manual tasks associated with therapy assistance and should have a proficient level of physical fitness to be able to complete the course, Students will be unable to successfully complete the course without completing placement.
