This course defines the standard required to: select, use, maintain and store suitable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), carry out routine checks and maintenance on your chainsaw, apply appropriate chainsaw technique and cutting methods according to manufacturer's specifications, document low risk work procedures, assess and minimise environmental impacts of chainsaw use, maintain records of chainsaw training and certification, risk assessment and use. PPE including steel capped boots, safety gasses and ear protection is required for this course.

Pre-requisite: Online Moodle pre-learning (quiz)
Prior to attending the one-day short course learners are required to access the pre-learning online and successfully complete the quiz. This is the first of three assessment tasks. Failure to successfully complete the online pre-learning prior to commencement of the course will result in students being unable to participate in the course.
Learners have two attempts to satisfactorily complete the Moodle pre-learning quiz. Please allow five hours to complete the pre-learning quiz.

After successfully completing this course, you will receive a Competency Card for the nationally accredited unit of competency: AHCMOM213 Operate and maintain chainsaws.
