About this course

Chisholm is now offering an accredited Trench shoring skill set delivered at Cranbourne campus. This skill set is available to people who wish to transition into the construction industry or those already in the industry who are seeking to re-skill. This training is government-subsidised.

After completion of the training, participants will be able to:

* install trench support
* support plant operations
* conduct local risk control

Participants will learn a range of skills, including:

* selecting and wearing personal protective equipment
* inspecting work area conditions to identify potential hazards
* identifying and considering all possible risk treatment options
* determining and preparing shoring method
* locating services from plans
* locating and advising operators of service markers
* exposing, marking services, and erecting barriers to prevent damage
* communicating with plant operator and ensure the excavation of trenches complies with requirements
* setting out positioning of shoring
* erecting shoring within the trench
* securing shoring in position and ensuring structural conformity
* checking and removing shoring from trench
* cleaning up work area

After successfully completing this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the following nationally accredited units:

* RIICCM210D Install trench support
* RIICCM206D Support plant operations
* RIIRIS201E Conduct local risk control



























Entry requirements

Must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) registered and have completed a pretraining review prior to enrolment., Parental agreement for students under 18 years of age required, Satisfy eligibility criteria if the candidate wishes to access government funding (if applicable), Students must be 15 of school leaving age or have a transition from school form, Students must have satisfactorily completed a minimum of year 9 or equivalent
