Bachelor
CQUniversity's Bachelor of Education (Secondary) will prepare you as a well-rounded graduate that qualifies for professional registration as a teacher throughout Australia.
The course includes 85 days of planned teaching practice in secondary schools plus other opportunities for you to apply theoretical knowledge in practical ways. You will also develop the skills to teach effectively in various contemporary educational settings.
During your studies, you will choose two teaching disciplines to focus on, such as biology (including year 7 - 10 science), business, chemistry (including year 7 to 10 science), English, geography, health and physical education (including year 7 - 10 HPE and year 11 - 12 physical education), history, home economics and hospitality, industrial technology and design, mathematics and psychology.
Trade entryIf you hold a relevant trade qualification and want to become an Industrial Technology and Design or Home Economics teacher, you may be eligible to apply via our trade-entry pathway. The trade-entry pathway recognises prior learning (RPL) for your approved trade into the course and reduces the number of units you will need to complete. Graduates from the trade-entry pathway exit with one teaching area only, given they receive RPL into the course.
When applying, you must demonstrate that you have met the listed Entry Requirements and English Language Proficiency requirements.
After you have applied and enrolled in this course, you will need to be able to meet the Security and Health Requirements as these generally relate to work-integrated learning activities that form part of your course. You will be provided with more information about security and health requirements after enrolling in the relevant units that these relate to.
Vaccination RequirementCOVID-19 vaccination is no longer required for workers in high-risk settings including early childhood, primary and secondary education. Decisions on mandatory vaccinations will instead be made by the owner or operator of these settings. Preservice teachers will need to adhere to the individual education setting requirements. To be eligible to complete placements in early childhood settings, pre-service teachers may be required to show proof of immunisation against measles, mumps and rubella and influenza.

Applicants may consider the prompts mentioned below in each question to frame their response.
Please note, personal statement requirements may differ depending on application method.
