About this course

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients' homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and well-being. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

To achieve this qualification the successful completion of the unit CHCDIS005, Develop and Provide Person Centred Service Responses will be required. This unit includes a 120 hours vocational placement with a disability service.

This is a nationally recognised accredited course.

Entry requirements

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

The COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory to be eligible to attend a WIL placement for this course. Students will be required to provide evidence of having completed a COVID-19 vaccination schedule by the closing date prior to a WIL placement. The vaccine received must be a vaccine approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of Australia.

BKSB

Completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher-level course.


Mandatory placement checks are compulsory for this course, you will be required to get a Working With Children's Check relevant to your state and an Australian Federal Police Check.Please ensure you will meet the requirements for these checks.

You may be required to undertake a Pre-Placement interview with host Organisations and placement is subject to student meeting the requirements of the organisation. Your Vocational Placement will entail 120 hours within an approved disability service. Your placement will be undertaken towards the end of the course. If you are currently working within the Disability Services Industry you may be eligible to undertake your placement hours with your existing employer.
