Mental Health is a keen interest of mine and I am passionate about furthering my career in this field.

I am passionate about psychology as I have a desire to walk alongside individuals on their journey to wellness and recovery. I have been fortunate to hold various interesting and challenging roles within my 16-year working career in both government and non-government sectors.

I am a Clinical Nurse and have worked in multiple areas including: Accident and Emergency, Medical/Surgical, rural/remote, Aboriginal communities, aged care and solo nursing posts. Within my nursing career, I have witnessed the impacts of poorly managed mental health in the acute setting of an emergency department as well as in regional/rural/remote and Aboriginal communities.

I am currently employed in the Child Protection Liaison Unit at Sunshine Coast University Hospital. I participate in SCAN meetings, facilitate Case Conferences and provide education and advice to QLD Health staff on child protection matters which often involve complex mental health issues. I am also currently employed with Act for Kids - Family and Child Connect program. This has given me experience in engaging vulnerable families at risk of entering the child protection system. I have worked extensively with families affected by multiple and complex issues, particularly mental health.

I have previously acted up in various roles within my work on the Family and Child Connect program, including working as a specialised domestic and family violence consultant. This has entailed providing assessments on cases involving domestic and family violence and engaging both victims and perpetrators. I am keen to apply my existing knowledge, skills and experience to my future psychological career and am excited to see where this leads. Mental Health is a keen interest of mine and I am passionate about furthering my career in this field.
