About this course

The Screen Arts major prepares graduates for a broad range of opportunities in the growing screenbased media industry. You will learn to analyse and apply screen theories to create your own works, both factual and for drama and entertainment. You will develop technical and practical skills to become an effective visual storyteller from the ground up, and in your final year you will write, direct or produce a major screen production to a professional industry standard. Facilities include Western Australia’s largest working television studio, a suite of HD cameras, sound recording gear, lighting and grips equipment, as well as editing, grading and audio postproduction labs. The major has two streams. The Screen Production Stream focuses more on practical skills whereas the Screen Studies Stream explores conceptual, analytical and theoretical aspects. Students who decide to study Screen Arts as a single major are encouraged to choose electives from the alternate stream to broaden your understanding and career opportunities. Screen arts is offered as part of the Bachelor of Arts. You can enhance your studies with a secondary major or choose from a range of elective units to support your career goals.
