Please note that the fees displayed are for the 2024 intake. This qualification allows for specialisation in both Animal Care and or Pet Grooming.

Animal Care

The course provides comprehensive training allowing participants to work in a broad range of roles in animal care facilities and services including boarding/daycare, breeding, shelters/holding centres, pet grooming, pet sitting and other animal businesses.

Graduates will come away with a range of skills including how to assess the welfare status of an animal, provide advice on general animal care, and promote positive wellbeing in themselves and others in animal care workplaces.

Pet Grooming

If you have a passion for animals and a desire to be a pet groomer, Certificate III in Animal Care Services will provide you with skills that will enable you to make this a reality, whether your end goal is to work with a mentor in a busy salon or to one day open your own grooming business, this course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to help you achieve your desired outcome.

This course prepares graduates to work as pet groomers within the animal care industry.

Before being accepted into the course applicants:

  • Complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) online test to ensure the required literacy & numeracy levels for the course are met.
  • Undertake a pre-training review by interview to ensure the course suits their needs and aspirations, and that they are likely to complete the course successfully.
  • All applicants must attend an induction, face to face, via Zoom/Teams or phone.

Workplace-based applicants

Students are required to:

  • Have a minimum of 15 hours of paid employment in an approved Vet Clinic or Grooming and or Companion Animal Workplace.

Traineeship applicants

Students are required to:

  • Apply through an Apprenticeship Network Provider with their employer to organise their apprenticeship/traineeship contract prior to applying for this course.

Inherent Requirements

  • Working in this industry may involve shift work and working weekends.
  • It involves handling a variety of animals which requires a reasonable level of fitness and stamina on a daily basis.
  • It is recommended that all successful applicants be immunised against tetanus.
