The Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade is the recognised qualification to become a qualified General Mechanical Engineering Tradesperson.

Learn skills in mechanical and thermal cutting, mechatronics, and general machining, and fine-tune your craftsmanship. You'll learn to use a mix of heavy machinery and computer skills, and gain experience in computer-aided drafting.

We'll work with you to choose subjects that suit your interests and career goals, and you'll learn in our professional workshops and training facilities.

This course is delivered as an apprenticeship.

GOTAFE preferred entry requirements
Before being accepted into the course applicants must:

  • Be currently employed in the engineering industry.
  • Complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) online test to ensure the required literacy & numeracy levels for the course are met.
  • Undertake a Pre-training Review by interview to ensure the course suits their needs and aspirations, and that they are likely to complete the course successfully.
  • Please apply through an Apprenticeship Network Provider with your employer to organise your apprenticeship contract prior to applying for this course.
