Nursing is the science of professional caring and offers opportunities to promote and restore health, prevent illness and alleviate suffering. In this degree, you will develop key skills for excellent nursing care.
You will develop your skills through clinical placements across the health sector and you will have opportunities to undertake rural, remote and overseas placements.
The Bachelor of Nursing includes multiple pathways. The degree requirements of each of the pathways are different and you will need to follow the requirements for your pathway to ensure your eligibility to graduate.
The standard 3 year program is available in Trimester 1 only
The 2 year advanced standing program is only available to students with one of the following qualifications:

This program is not available to applicants who hold a qualification in Nursing acceptable for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

^Internationally Qualified Nurses must demonstrate recency of practice (within a period of five years) and have unconditional registration where they are working as a Registered Nurse. Note: We follow Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) guidelines regarding recency of practice. Applicants must have a minimum of 450 hours accumulated over the past five years. The hours do not need to be continuous.
You may find opportunities in hospitals, in the community, and in urban, rural and remote settings. Nursing graduates are employed in a range of occupations and industries. As well as hospitals, medical centres, community health clinics and aged care centres, you'll be prepared for work in schools, the travel industry, with drug and alcohol service providers, in sporting clubs or in research organisations.

The Guaranteed Admission Scheme does not apply to this degree.
Note: Diploma of Health Care, Diploma of Nursing and Internationally Qualified Nurses applicants are not permitted to defer an offer. Should you be unable to accept an offer, you must re-apply for entry in the next available intake.
Standard programSelection for admission to an undergraduate degree is made on the basis of academic merit.
Selection for admission is competitive as the number of applicants generally exceeds the places available. The minimum requirement for eligibility for admission is completion of Year 12 of secondary school or equivalent academic achievement.
Prerequisites for admission may be specified in terms of levels of achievement in particular Year 12 subjects. Prerequisite conditions may be satisfied by other study or experience which is considered to be equivalent to the Year 12 prerequisites. Diploma of Health Care pathwayApplicants with a completed Diploma of Health Care from Griffith College are eligible for the Diploma of Health Care pathway.
Recent graduates with a packaged offer can apply via Direct Admission.
Graduates without a packaged offer or who graduated more than 12 months prior must apply via the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) or Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced Standing) admission pathway*. Applicants will be required to complete the Nursing Admission Questionnaire as an additional selection criteria.

Diploma of Nursing pathwayApplicants with a completed Diploma of Nursing from an accredited Australian Education Provider and unconditional registration (without restrictions) as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2), General with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) are eligible for the Diploma of Nursing pathway. Note that registration under the AHPRA Pandemic Response Sub Register is not accepted. NOTE: Trimester 1 2023 intake offered at Logan campus only, Trimester 2 2023 intake: all campuses offered.

Internationally Qualified Nurses pathwayInternationally Qualified Nurses who provide documentary evidence with their application are eligible for the Internationally Qualified Nurses pathway.

Important offer advice for the Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced Standing) admission pathway: Should you receive an offer into this program you will be required to enrol into classes* within a short timeframe. This information will be included in your Starting@Griffith email and expressed in the number of days from the day of issue of your email. For QTAC applicants this is in line with the offer response date in your offer email, however Griffith accepts close of business that day - 5pm (AEST). Please note that the number of days can vary depending on when the offer was made. This requirement applies to all applicants irrespective of how you applied and/or whether you accepted conditionally or unconditionally. If you do not enrol* into at least one class for your program by 5pm on the response day your offer will lapse. Lapsed offers are not automatically reinstated and are subject to available places.
