About this course

The Griffith University Masters Qualifying Program provides students with an opportunity to upgrade their prior study to meet the academic and/or English language requirements for direct admission to a Griffith University Masters program.

The Masters Qualifying Program comprises one trimester of full-time study. The program aims to provide you with the knowledge, values and competencies required for successful completion of studies at postgraduate level in Australia.

This program is delivered in partnership with Griffith College.

Entry requirements

This program is for International students only.

To be eligible for admission to the Masters Qualifying Program, a student must:

  • hold a three year post-secondary (post-Year 12 equivalent) qualification OR
  • hold a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

Academic qualifications, English proficiency levels and work experience will be assessed upon application to the Masters Qualifying Program. Applicants should note that a related Bachelor degree is required for admission to some Masters programs.

The Masters Qualifying Program may provide a pathway to Arts, Education and Law; Griffith Business School; Griffith Health and Griffith Sciences Masters programs. At the point of application, students will be assessed for their eligibility for admission to the Masters program. Students will receive a packaged offer for the Masters Qualifying Program and the approved Masters program. The offer is conditional upon students achieving a program GPA of 4.0 in the Masters Qualifying Program.

Students who have completed the Masters Qualifying Program will have developed the core skills needed for admission to selected Masters programs at Griffith University.

Credit for prior study or work

No credit for prior studies will be awarded towards the Masters Qualifying Program.

Students on a pathway to a Arts, Education and Law Masters program may receive credit for the completion of the course 9131IBA Managing Organisations where the program structure permits.

Students on a pathway to a Griffith Business School Masters program may receive credit for the completion of the course 9131IBA Managing Organisations where the program structure permits. This does not include the Master of Professional Accounting, Master of Human Resource Management and Employment Relations or Master of Human Resource Management and Employment Relations /Master of International Business.

Students on a pathway to a Griffith Sciences Masters program may receive credit for the completion of the course 9133ENG Project Management for Postgraduates where the program structure permits.

Students on a pathway to a Griffith Health Masters program may receive credit for the completion of the course 9131IBA Managing Organisations where the program structure permits.

How to apply

An International student is a person who is not an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian permanent resident or holder of an Australian Permanent Humanitarian visa.

This program is available to International students for study in Australia at Griffith University.

International students applying to study on-campus in Australia will require a student visa or another type of visa which does not preclude them from studying in Australia.
