Entry requirements

Applicants must be at least 18, have an awareness of language and a competence in both written and spoken English that will enable them to do the course and prepare for teaching a range of levels.

Applicants must have the potential to develop the necessary skills to become effective teachers and to successfully complete written assignments and the assessment of practice teaching.

Please note - to be employed in Australia as an English as a Second Language teacher, you must have gained an undergraduate degree, at a minimum.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.
These will assist in determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Your skills and knowledge will be developed through a combination of classroom learning, practical placement, access to online resources, reading, and self-study.
