If you have already started developing your English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, take those skills even further with this Certificate I in EAL - English as an Additional Language.
There are no formal entry requirements but you should be from a non-English speaking background and over 18 years old.
Applicants are placed in the appropriate English course based on an interview and English language assessment.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.
These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
You'll cover areas such as conversations, giving and listening to spoken information about Australia leisure activities, reading and writing short messages and simple texts, grammar, pronunciation, digital literacy and more. You will learn the skills required to communicate effectively in everyday settings.
This course is free for eligible Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) clients
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
