Entry requirements

When undertaking the course, you must be enrolled as a VCE or VCE (VM) student as a Victorian secondary school.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.

These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

What you will learn

Undertaking units from this qualification will enable students to obtain recognition of the industry-specific competencies delivered within the animal care industry.

Students need the physical capability and stamina to cope with simulation and practical classes. They should be prepared to clean enclosures, bedding, surfaces, and floors. In addition, they should be able to handle the required tools and equipment, lift and move equipment, food items, and stock. Potentially, they will be capturing, restraining, and moving animals during practical activities and assessments.
