Certificate
This Certificate II in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology is designed to help learners acquire the basic skills and knowledge needed to create freestanding furniture or built-in cabinets. Graduates will also be capable of offering on-site help with furniture or cabinet installations in a workplace.
To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.
These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
All students must complete a Pre-training review and LLN test
In our state-of-the-art workshop which simulates a real workplace, our expert teaching staff will ensure you are industry-ready by completing a range of basic production skills such as:
* Workplace safety
* Hand and power tools
* Construction and joining methods
* Installation techniques
Upon completing this qualification, you will gain a broader understanding of the Cabinet Making/Joinery industry. The skills and knowledge you have gained throughout the course will assist you in gaining employment as an apprentice or further your studies in Furniture Design.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
