Certificate
The Certificate II in Sport and Recreation will provide you with a solid background in the Sport and Recreation industry, making it an excellent choice for those who plan to pursue careers such as sports administrators, recreation officers, or coaches.
When undertaking the course, you must be enrolled as a VCE or VCE (VM) student at a Victorian secondary school.
Students should also have the physical capacity to be able to successfully work within the field where they may be required to conduct their work typically within fitness centres, sports grounds or facilities, leisure and aquatic centres and community recreation centres, while making sure they are in compliance with all Manual Handling WHS legislation.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you may be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
During this course, you'll engage in diverse sports-related units and acquire foundational skills for instructing and officiating in various games and sports.
Furthermore, you'll gain insight into the sporting industry and relevant workplace competencies. Topics will include preparing for sporting and recreation sessions, session conduct, first aid, and client interactions. The range of sports covered will be customized to match your interests.
This is a VET Delivered to Secondary Students, also known as VETdss (previously VETiS) course and can only be completed as part of your VCE or VCE VM program.
