Entry requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.

Students should have the physical capacity to be able to successfully work within the field where they may be required to conduct their work typically within a beauty, waxing, brow or nail salon, while making sure they are in compliance with all Manual Handling WHS legislation

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training review at an interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

What you will learn

This course is delivered holistically where students learn a range of beauty and salon service skills such as using a client booking system, conducting salon financial transactions, and performing beauty services including manicure and pedicure, nail art, makeup, eyelash extensions, waxing, lash and brow treatments, as well as advising on beauty products and services.

We also focus on making sure you have a strong customer service approach when consulting with clients, so you're ready to walk into a job at your future salon.

This program has compulsory activities/materials as part of the learning experience. The department will confirm the cost of these activities/materials prior to your enrolment.

Credit for prior study or work

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
