The Certificate III in Civil Construction (Traffic Management) is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to work in the civil construction industry with a specific focus on traffic management.

Entry requirements

Employed as an apprentice in the civil construction industry or related business with a apprenticeship training contract in place and signed by Holmesglen / Apprentice / Employer.

Must hold WorkSafe Victoria construction industry induction white card. Holmesglen will provide the industry card training at an additional cost if required.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

What you will learn

The planned duration of the course is 12 months and trainees are required to attend campus approximately 1 day a week for 36 weeks over the 12 month period and participate in 8 additional worksite training sessions. Delivery of units is distributed across the year and structured to correspond to the phase of the traineeship with foundation units on safety, planning, communication and common work tasks which apply to all units being delivered first, and specific skills allocated to organising site inductions, utilising traffic control equipment and procedures to implement traffic management plans taught after learners have grasped the fundamentals of Industry requirements.

Career pathways

  • Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be qualified to work in all aspects of traffic management and traffic control.

Credit for prior study or work

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
