Entry requirements

This program has been designed as an Apprenticeship program for Distribution Overhead - Powerline Industry apprentices.

Holmesglen requires all learners entering this course to be employed by a provider in the Electrical Supply Industry, Powerline Industry sector, and registered as an apprentice working with an ESI provider.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training, apprentices will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining suitability of the course, verify the training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

What you will learn

Training covers the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment, conductors and cables, customer services and the inspection of overhead poles/structures and electrical apparatus, the use of support plant and equipment to undertake the work and requirements and procedures for working on live low voltage electrical apparatus.

Students who complete their apprenticeship, continue working as Electrical Linesworkers in the distribution overhead powerline industry, carrying out installation, maintenance and inspection of poles, structures and associated hardware used on; poles and structures, electrical equipment, conductors and cables used in the powerline industry.

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
