About this course

The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) equips you for a job in aged care. Combining theory and practice, this aged care course will teach you how to provide physical, social and emotional support to older people. You will also learn how to work as part of a team with other professionals such as nurses and healthcare workers.

Entry requirements

All applicants are required to complete Holmesglen's bksb online LLN assessment tool as part of the pre-training review process. Learners should demonstrate LLN skills at ACSF Working Level 3 to enter the course, however those learners with ACSF Level 2 in English literacy may be admitted to the program with LLN support.

Effective Literacy skills are required to access course resource information and complete assessment tasks, such as; workbooks, website links (including Holmesglen's LMS - Brightspace), quizzes, case studies, example proformas, case notes and other Sector-related documentation.

General numeric literacy is required in the workplace for noting relevant information, such as weight, fluid volume, time, frequency and quantity.

Those applicants who achieve lower than the required Level 3 in either Basic English or Basic Maths may be selected to commence the course with additional LLN support. All learners identified as having a bksb result lower than level 3, are formally referred to the LSC (Learning Skills Centre) who then make contact with the learner to organise the support required.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
