Entry requirements

No entry requirements for the qualification as per the training package.

However, Holmesglen does require the following:

Applicants must be employed part time and have EPSILON training contract.

Applicants must be available to participate and engage in a scheduled teacher-led remote delivery session one day per week for 24 weeks.

Applicants must be available to attend work based sessions during the term breaks.
Applicants must have a remote learning environment set up conducive for learning.

Students who undertake this program have computer skills to perform the following tasks but is not limited to:
* turn on a computer
* use a mouse and keyboard
* open and close a software application
* conduct a search in a web browser
* send and receive an email
* save a file, and locate a saved file
* download and install software applications


The physical resources and software required for this qualification include:
* Macs/ PCs (with a minimum specification of at least 8GB of Ram and CPU i5 or i7 chip)
* Adobe CC (Photoshop)
* Headphones with microphone
* Internet access
* Unity
* Maya
* 3D Coat
* ZBrush
* Substance Painter
* Drawing tablets (optional)
* Video cameras
* Smart phone or a tablet for portfolio testing.

Prior to enrolment all applicants are required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and attend a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

What you will learn

You will need to attend/participate sessions via remote teacher facilitated delivery every Wednesday and Friday from 1.30pm - 5pm for step-by-step video tutorials and WebEx Meetings sessions.

As part of the traineeship program, you are required to attend four scheduled face-to-face sessions at the St Kilda Road campus. The dates for these sessions will be advised during the sign up session.

This six-month program is for secondary school students taking on VET studies as part of their school enrolment.

Over the course of the program, students will be able to complete the qualification and receive the traineeship letter of completion.

You will also be required to complete two 3.5 hour paid work shifts after school each week for six and half months.

Career pathways

  • Year 12 students can apply for a 10 per cent block credit to their ATAR school.

Credit for prior study or work

You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
