Entry requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.

A fair amount of strength and physical fitness is required in order to participate in the construction work required.

All non-apprentices are identified and supported by Apprentice Central with a view for them to engage in an apprenticeship program as soon as possible.

Learners commencing the course as a non apprentice will be actively seeking an apprenticeship while studying in order to practice and consolidate skills on-the-job

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

This course provides you with the necessary skills and knowledge that, when combined with workplace enhancement skills, will enable you to perform the work of a landscape gardening constructor.

Roles in the industry can be varied and include, construction and maintenance of domestic and commercial landscapes, or the construction and installation of amenity and recreational landscape structures.

You may also undertake the design of gardens and commercial landscapes, or provide technical advice and forward estimates on landscape development proposals.

Employers in this industry include individual landscapers, landscaping companies and public bodies, such as local councils.

Credit for prior study or work

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
