Certificate
The Certificate III in Plumbing (General plumbing, roofing and mechanical) provides comprehensive training for all plumbing apprentices and covers the practical and theoretical aspects of the industry.
Holmesglen requires all learners to be engaged in a plumbing apprenticeship. You must be signed up as an apprentice with your chosen employer and have an Epsilon number stating Holmesglen is your selected training provider.
Learners must be at least 16 years old when enrolling in the program. It is recommended that applicants have completed Year 11 or equivalent and have a minimum of Year 10 English and Mathematics.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
This course combines face-to-face classes with theoretical and practical lesson. These will challenge knowledge learned in class, while developing your critical thinking skills to resolve problems experienced in the plumbing industry.
You will be mentored by experienced expert plumbers and industry teachers who will help you build the skills and knowledge to undertake plumbing projects and installations, including:
drainage work
gas fitting work
irrigation (non-agricultural) work
mechanical services work
roofing (storm water) work
sanitary work
water supply work
This course incorporates units that are required to become a registered plumber, as prescribed by the VBA Classes of Plumbing. The skills and knowledge learned in this course are required to competently attempt the VBA registered plumber exams.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
