Certificate
The Certificate III in Stonemasonry provides comprehensive training for stonemasonry apprentices, covering both practical and theoretical aspects of the trade. Stonemasonry is the trade of shaping pieces of rock into accurate geometrical shapes, which are then constructed together to form structures.
To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.
You must have a training agreement with a registered employer from a relevant industry.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist in determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
Our training includes the latest skills required of stonemasons, such as laminating, edge polishing, drop downs, and sink cut-outs. We also provide you with training in traditional skills such as monumental, architectural and construction.
In consultation with your employer, we can provide the streaming of skills required by each aspect of the trade, reducing the time you need to spend on campus.
Recent changes in the stonemasonry industry have included the huge growth in kitchen bench tops using engineered and natural stone. This has led to a skills shortage for businesses specialising in bench tops and other commercial work.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
