Entry requirements

Applicants must be aged at least 18 at course commencement.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training, students will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment (BKSB test) and a pre-training interview, attend a face to face interview and undertake some contextualised Allied Health-related questions.

These will assist with determining the prospective student suitability for the course and to identify any learning support needs.

Prior to undertaking clinical placement, students will need to provide evidence of:
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. This will need to occur externally at the student's own cost (approximately $100)
- student health and immunisation status (costs will vary but is usually between $100 and $500)
- complete a National Police Records Check annually (between $25 - $50)
- hold a valid Working with Children Check for employees (approximately $130)

What you will learn

This course is delivered at Holmesglen's Moorabbin campus and will provide students with comprehensive training in the speciality streams of physiotherapy and occupational therapy, as well as information about other areas, including group work and community rehabilitation.

Students gain the skills to work directly with allied health professionals such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists to provide clients with therapy and support to improve their quality of life in the medical, aged care and disability settings.

All our clinical specialist units are taught by allied health assistants who maintain their industry currency.

Learning will be supported through a range of online activities, lectures and tutorials. Practical sessions are conducted in our state-of-the-art allied health facility, with simulated hospital rehabilitation and community environments. Training is further enhanced with access to virtual reality learning opportunities and the Holmesglen state of the art Simulation Centre, providing students with real life scenarios in preparation for entry into the workplace.
