Certificate
The Certificate IV in Business will provide you with the skills and knowledge required for entry-level administrative, management and business roles. You will develop core fundamental skills in business operation, administrative and management processes.
There are no formal entry requirements, but it is recommended that students have at least:
VCE (ATAR) or equivalent; or mature age (at least 18 years of age and away from formal study for at least one year) and/or
BSB30115 Certificate III in Business (or similar qualification)
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
The language, literacy and numeracy levels required for this course are based on the ACSF.
Language = 3 Working at Level 4
Numeracy = 3 Working at Level 4
This requires a student to have good comprehension and the ability to take responsibility for their own work, for example by proof reading and self-correcting errors in their own writing. They must have the ability to independently access their own resources to aid problem solving and learning, and be able to complete a task. Students also need to have a basic understanding of and ability to calculate daily mathematical problems, for example using decimals and percentages.
Students who do not achieve these levels may enrol in the course with support through the Institute's support services, such as Student Services for counselling and the Learning Skills Centre for language and literacy support.
A learning support teacher is embedded in the program, providing support alongside the class room teacher for a minimum of one class each week. All students are supported during their education with LLN and academic learning techniques.

This course is highly interactive, with structured face-to-face workshops delivered across a semester or six months, in a blended model of on-site and remote workshops.
The course structure and delivery of the units have been designed so students can build on their knowledge and skills over time by participating in simulated project work and industry-related tasks, each one catering to a specific skill development.
These skills are generic and can be applied to any industry. You will gain knowledge and skills in developing complex business documents, including writing and preparing reports, developing and using complex spreadsheets and databases, arranging bookings, and promoting products and services.
You will develop skills and broad knowledge to apply solutions to a range of unpredictable problems and analyse information from a variety of sources. You will have good communication skills to support high-level individuals and teams, providing leadership and guidance to others, with some limited responsibility for others' duties.
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
