The Certificate IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management will give you experience in planning and implementing a range of projects to assist you to work within the conservation and ecosystem management industry
To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.
Prospective learners should also have the physical capacity to be able to successfully undertake fieldwork where they may be required to carry light equipment as part of class work and assessments on field trip days. Full time and part time learners should make themselves available for the week long camp.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
Throughout this course you will gain experience in a range of conservation and ecological projects including mapping and biodiversity projects, inspecting and monitoring cultural places, re-vegetation projects, pest, plant and animal management, flora and fauna identification and recognition of geological landforms and samples, Ecosystem site inspections, developing interpretive activities and researching environmental issues and maintaining industry WHS processes.
The course is delivered through a mix of classroom-based learning and practical field-based work.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
