Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course However to undertake the mandated placement in the Certificate IV in Disability, students may be required to undertake an NDIS Worker Screening Check, obtain a National Police check and/or a Working with Children Check (if their placement involves working with children), as required by the sector.

Applicants must be 18 years+ to apply for the course.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.

These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

What you will learn

This course is structured to provide you with the skills and knowledge in subject areas such as empowerment, inclusion, person centred planning, supporting positive lifestyle, advocacy, augmented and alternative communication and human development.

Your learning will be facilitated by experienced trainers with close links to the disability sector.

Your learning is complemented by 120 hours of work placement in the disability sector, throughout the duration of the course.

Our placement officer can assist you in finding a suitable work placement. If you currently work or volunteer in the disability sector, you may count this work towards your work placement hours.

Units in this course feature an online component (for example, discussion boards and quizzes).You will be supported by your teachers to develop the necessary skills to undertake these online components.

Credit for prior study or work

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
