The Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) will give you skills in building, configuring and managing networks, network security, cloud computing, virtualisation and enterprise communication systems.
Holmesglen requires applicants who undertake this program to have the digital literacy to:
turn on a computer
connect to the internet
use a mouse, keyboard, headset with microphone or speakers and webcam
open and close a software application
conduct a search in a web browser
send and receive emails
save a file, and locate a saved file
download and install a software application
use webinar software to participate in remote learning
Applicants intending to learn remotely will require access to a PC or laptop with the following minimum specifications:
Quad-Core CPU, 8GB of RAM, 200GB of storage, 2 GHz or faster processor
Access to an internet connection (ADSL or cable connection desirable)

Prior to enrollment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs. Learners' digital and computer skills are confirmed during the interview.

Throughout the course, you will build practical networking skills in Holmesglen's network laboratories and have 24-hour access to industry standard networking technologies via Holmesglen's NETLAB.
This course recognises that a network technician needs to build a broad base of understanding in other areas to understand the sophisticated technologies used to support modern business practices. As such you will study network design, server management, virtualisation, operating systems, cyber security and network security.
Experienced and expert teachers will guide you through the program in a practical environment using the latest industry vendor programs, including Cisco, VMware, Palo Alto and Microsoft.
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
