Certificate
The Certificate IV in Leisure and Health will teach you how to design, implement and evaluate leisure activities and health programs for clients who are ageing. You will also learn how to work as part of a team with other professionals such as personal care assistants, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
Before you can start your practical placement, you will be required to provide:
a clear National Criminal History (Police) Check
evidence of influenza vaccination (required from May each year)
evidence of COVID-19 vaccinations (mandated by the Australian Government from 17 September 2021 for all workers in aged care).
This course will develop the skills you need to provide informed, person-centred leisure and lifestyle programs in residential aged care or with a variety of organisations that offer those services to older people in community settings.
You will complete a minimum 120 hours of work placement in a host facility to help you put your skills into practice.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
